The physical juxtaposition of Valette’s traditional oil painting and Allchurch’s digital transparency sparked a fascinating debate among the attendees about the nature of software, creative production, and artificial intelligence. Ultimately, the debate over whether to fear or welcome artificial intelligence is less about the technology itself and more a reflection of our own internal contradictions. AI operates as a flawless mirror, reflecting humanity’s highest brilliance, our deepest biases, our boundless capacity for innovation, and our historical penchant for destruction. When we scrutinise the algorithms that increasingly govern our lives, we are ultimately forced to decode our own human behaviour, and we may not always be comfortable with what the data reveals. Artificial intelligence is not an alien force descending upon us from the future; it is the ultimate, unfiltered product of human intellect. The true challenge of the coming century is not in mastering the machine, but in governing ourselves.
